One part which is rotating at high speeds is pressed against another part which is firmly fixed in a jig. The heat generated by the friction causes the surfaces and just below to achieve the forging temperature. At that point, the rotation is halted and both parts are pressed together under high pressure. A secure molecular connection is created, without changing the structure of the rest of the part.
